As we reflect on 2024, harp-weaver LLC has experienced significant growth and achievement across multiple aspects of our practice. From deepening existing client relationships to expanding our team and sharing expertise in the philanthropic sector, we continue to advance our mission of providing strategic philanthropic counsel and management services.
Client Engagement and Impact
Longstanding Client Excellence
We are committed to delivering effective philanthropic solutions that generate meaningful outcomes in sectors including the arts, mental health, education, and community development. Through strategic grants, mission-related investments, and facilitated convenings, we have assisted our clients in maximizing their philanthropic impact while remaining true to their core values and missions.
To learn more about one of our clients and its efforts, check out these blog posts (one on the Greenfield Youth Film Festival and one on other initiatives) by Jill Greenfield Feldman, the Foundation Manager for the Greenfield Foundation.
A notable milestone this year was Principal and Founder Teresa Araco Rodgers' tenth anniversary as Executive Director of The Presser Foundation, where she continues to advance music education and support for the broader musical community.
New Strategic Relationships
In 2024, we expanded our client base with two significant new relationships:
A Philadelphia neighborhood-focused philanthropy where we're providing both strategic guidance and comprehensive grantmaking and foundation management services.
A family foundation engagement, where we're designing and implementing a year-long learning journey focused on housing issues for next-generation leadership that will ultimately lead to a strategy for this important pillar.
Organizational Growth
Team Expansion
We strengthened our capabilities with the addition of Jennifer (Jen) Flocco as Foundation Manager in October. Jen brings valuable experience in operations, board management, and philanthropy, enhancing our ability to serve our clients effectively. Learn more about Jen in this blog spotlight.
Knowledge Leadership
Our team actively contributed to the field through multiple channels:
Participation in high-profile speaking engagements, including the SEI Women's Network Leadership Summit and Impact PHL's Total Impact Summit.
Thought leadership contributions on mission-aligned investing and philanthropy with investment management firm partners.
Educational outreach, including presentations at local universities, within the membership organizations we belong, the Philadelphia Social Innovations Journal, and convenings with anti-violence organizations in Philadelphia.
Community Engagement and Learning
Night Out With Meaning
We hosted a compelling discussion with Maureen O'Connell, Professor of Christian Ethics at La Salle University and Director of Synod and Higher Education Engagement at Discerning Deacons, exploring themes of faith-based leadership, the role of women in the Catholic Church, and institutional change. Impact Assessment
A significant accomplishment this year was completing a comprehensive impact analysis for a long-term client, documenting decades of philanthropic activity. This detailed assessment included a historical grant analysis, strategy review, mission alignment evaluation, and a long-term impact assessment.
Looking Ahead
As we approach 2025, we are excited to celebrate harp-weaver's 15th anniversary in March. This milestone represents our enduring commitment to excellence in philanthropic advisory and foundation management services and our continuing evolution as a leader in the field.
We invite you to follow our journey through our blog, newsletter, and social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) for regular updates and insights into our work and the broader philanthropic sector.
